[..]
Yes, why?
To be clear, I do not agree with the VMS author having ever been inspired or even seen something from Taccola at all.
This is a picture I screenshotted from a documentary about medieval Crimea, which was tightly connected to Genua (no, I don't claim the VMS originating from Crimea with this):
They were digging up old water pipes here.
I don't know any details about it or the documentation (there is a little logo visible), but the point is:
why should the author / draftsman even need "inspiration from a rare manuscript" when he was surrounded by such pieces in real life -- be it somewhere in "Genua" or deep in Eastern Europe? And bathing in ponds or constructed pools is not quite that unsual, no need for technical inspiration.
There are just no unique and convincing parts that would confirm anything "must be from Taccolas book exclusively".
About rainbows for example, I found an east-european believe that they are "soaking up the water to produce new rain": looking at some VMS "rainbows", I would not think of inspiration by a foreign technics manuscipt in the first line...
But this thread here is about (nude) nymphs, so

Well, I think it's best to think of them as representations of normal people. The first zodiacs show something quite more interesting than nude nymphs: clothed ones.
And this clothing appears very normal to me; could be the reason why it is nearly not discussed.
At least, no sign of "angelic", metaphysical, nymph-like or any such things to connect with them.
