Despite the Cathar heresy being predominant mainly amongst the peasantry after the Albigensian crusade, they were well known for their interest in advanced navigation, food storage systems and boat building.
You seem to be insinuating that maybe the Cathars built their own ship for crossing the Atlantic. I never gave much consideration to such a possbility. Montségur was their last stronghold and by then Inquisition spies were probably everywhere. Maybe in southern Portugal when it was under the control Alfonso the Wise they could have had enough cover to build their own boat.
With knowledge of the crossing attempt apparently never reaching the Inquisition of the 13th century, it makes a lot of sense that the Cathars would have acquired a boat (or perhaps could have built a boat) with help from either the Jewish or Islamic communities of Spain.
It's known that the Cathars taught trade skills such as parchment making and sewing to their converts. I never saw boat building mentioned in that context but it is easy to imagine that people with those skills could have joined their ranks.
Cathar capabilities in the fields of food storage and long-term survival on minimal amounts of food and water were put into evidence in the prolonged siege of Montségur. Such abilities surely add confidence for a transatlantic attempt. Having had contact with Arabic sciences via the Toledo translators, the Cathars would have known that the world is round and that there was hope of reaching the other side of the ocean.

I was thinking that Cathar expertise in the field of food storage (for which they were famous) could not possibly be something in your realm of knowledge, so I assumed that you might have read something about the Cathars that I missed.
But no need to apologize. I'm well accustomed to that type of nonsense. Actually, in spite of a couple of bouts of moderator review and threats of expulsion, you guys have been wonderful with me in comparison to the rude criticisms that have been unleashed upon me for my VMS-related theories on English literature, which you can find on You are not allowed to view links. Let me tell you something: if I succeed in breaking the code, Cathars in pre-Columbian America won't be the only thing to upset your view of history. -

I think it best to remain skeptical of anything that cannot be carbon-dated, which is not the case for a certain armadillo. -

I just realized that you sound like someone who might be interested in one of my alien theories, the one that connects early medieval Judaism and Islam to the Sun religion of the Incas and, of course, to the VMS as well. You can find a summary of that theory at

I tend to downplay my alien theories because they are hardly popular these days, but I now plan to promote this one as I can foresee circumstances where it could help to bring peace to the Middle East. It could also result in a widespread increase of interest in the VMS.
I'm a true optimist in sharp contrast to others in this forum who are endlessly demeaning and disparaging the VMS. If for one second I ever thought that the VMS contained instructions on how to cook goat's liver, I would have never wasted one moment of my time posting something in this forum. -

I'm hardly going to criticize you for taking an interest in the Egyptian Book of the Dead. It's a sure sign of an inquisitive mind, and of someone who seeks knowledge. Across the centuries, many great minds took an interest in ancient Egypt while others turned to endeavors like astrology, alchemy, and black magic all in the pursuit of knowledge.
As I often mention Nostradamus, I imagine many people think that I'm into astrology, crystal balls, brass tripods, psychic powers, or whatever. None of the above. The issue is only that some of the prophecies display signs of genuine time travel, otherwise I'd have no interest at all in them.
With the Fourth Crusade prophecy making Pope Innocent III the laughingstock of southern France, the Roman Church embarked on a ruthless campaign to eradicate those prophecies from the face of the Earth along with anyone who valued them. By establishing a vast network of torture chambers and by placing spies in every town and village, they would have succeeded except for a small group of women with enough courage to set out to sea.
If a decoding proves me right (I'm working on it), I think Hollywood will be making films about the VMS for decades to come. The way that those prophecies managed to survive the scourge of Europe, followed by three centuries of likely turmoil in the New World, and then find their way back to Europe intact, has to be one of the most miraculous stories ever told.
