Another "poxleber", from 1518!

[SherriMM]

The current record for a confirmed published version of "poxleber" is 1525, according to our list:

Now I would like to add a new one, from 1518

"Nym ain poxleber"

It is a recipe from a book called "Die kunst wie man Visch vnd Vögel fahen sol", i.e., the art of how to catch fish and birds. It is not a swear word like in the Fastnachtspiele tradition in Nürnberg.

On the right hand side, middle of the page.

And it was printed in Augsburg, which I am personally prioritizing based on my research!

Have you seen Munich BSB Cgm 8137, which is a little earlier, circa 1498? It has the same recipe you just shared, with it called "pockleber". From Tegernsee (which is interesting to me for Trimethius reasons).

Then there's You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view., circa 1450 which has three more recipes for buck's liver, called "bokes leber", from Lake Constance area. Are we dating from "bokes leber" or "pox leber"? (You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view.)

I haven't read all the threads about this yet so sorry if I'm repeating. Personally I think 116v is related to Hildegard's tropfen in a mix of latin, german, and her lingua ignota (but this is an incantation, not a full recipe) - another post I'll get to someday.
