I would expect the effects of weathering on any singulion collection smaller than on a bound book, since the MS has been bound for the majority of its life and adventures.
In the early folios, there is a very clear darkening close to the cover. So on top of certain bifolios being darker than others, the halves of bifolios that sit close to the first page are separately affected. I don't know if this is due to higher human traffic, more exposure or something inherent to a former outer cover. Maybe all.
If you start at f1r, each leaf is darker than its conjoint leaf further in the quire. In Q20, of course the outer folio is very dark (expected), but it doesn't seem to carry a clear back to front slope throughout the current nesting. The inner bifolio is very light, and then pages get darker again. The complication here is that Q20 has a high chance of having been mixed up, and potentially having been nested in a different layout before. But also, it is understandable that the last pages don't have the same high traffic effect as the first ones.
Back to the Herbal section. This graph should be a bit easier to read. It's the last thing I got out of Claude before running out of weekly credits (I had tried a higher setting and forgot to turn it off).
