Evidence for 2 rules linking words in Herbal A->B
#31
I was able to determine where the source of the 'inverted' t/k glyphs are between Early Herbal A and Herbal B. The overall use of K/T gallows generally increases, but the ok* and ot* versions specifically seem to be the source of the swapped signals.

All of the data and charts below, can be explored on the You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view.i shared. Here is a You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view. to this tab, and i will link to other charts below.
  • Between Early A and Late A, words that start with ot* , ok* remain constant.
  • Between Early A and Pharma, ot* decline substantially, while ok* sky-rockets, surpassing ot* (this does not include pharma labels)
  • Between Early A and Herbal B, ot* and ok* almost perfectly invert, especially after adjusting for overall gallows increases.

This can be seen in the following chart. On the web app, you can change the metrics being displayed, and drill down into sub-families.

To aid in analyzing these, i created the following chart, that essentially shows whether lines like this are diverging, converging, or inverting. Remaining 'flat' or constant is a diagonal line, and another diagonal line below the x axis represents a 1:1 perfect inversion.

You can drill into the ok/ot*, for example, and see what it looks like by suffix.

Several forms rise and fall together, generally with K rising far more than T. These large tandem rise and falls likely represent the volume being converted into a different suffix, indeed, we can see some of the largest drops are in some of the suffixes we have already discussed with respect to other rules. However, we can still see that several still show clear inversion at this level. These charts can all be seen on You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view.. Clicking a card lets you drill down.

A few other word families show similar inversions.

So it looks like many word forms do appear to directly swap k/t, with some very close to a 1:1 ratio. The P/F gallows component is more complicated, I'm still digging into that, but in general they show different trends than k/t. Bench Gallows also do not fallow the overall K/T pattern. I am still working on synthesizing the information about them, but will have more to share soon.

Incorporating these gallows swaps, further tightens the spread in the Stolfi-frequency chart.

I hope to have more to share on this soon. All of the updated rule list driving the above charts are live in the app, and the code is in the git-hub repo.
