Maybe a point we all could agree on: A sample size of n=4 is just not optimal, for any study or experiment, in any field.
So, how much does a C14 analysis cost these days? Wouldn't it be reasonable to ... just start a crowdfunding campaign? I'd chip in a few bucks for sure!
Of course, things certainly are 'not that easy'. But it should be obvious that the present situation can be fixed with well-known means, so it probably will be at some point in time. Anyone wants to open a betting pot?
Just imagine we take one C14 sample per folio and get a complete series of 112 Gauss curves, with exactly 1 peak per year, like a cow serial killer writing his perverse diary on his victim's skin every winter solstice
Just to show that more data points really could change how we look at the thing. If there is any hint that there are two seperate C14 concentration clusters, we should really want to check, just to be sure.
