Postscript: as so often we find later echoes in some works.  Ellie and I have both illustrated certain examples of a partial 'sky' divided into tiers and occupied by 'naked souls' - but the style and details show the earliest examples of this sort have close affinity to extant Jewish works.  The issue is further complicated by the fact that highly decorated formal Jewish manuscripts are often illustrated by Christian artists.
