It is very difficult to determine the correct place of origin based on the text. The ‘ch’ as ‘k’ suggests a proximity to Alemannic. But it is only 20 km from St. Gallen Abbey to the Bavarian language area, and 40 km to Bavaria. Ergo, somewhere. |
