I assume that the described division into categories is only meant to give a rough indication. As long as we can't make any concrete statements about the actual content, the topics are only guesses (well, the Herbal section is pretty clear).
For me it is also an open question whether the VMS is an compilation, i.e. the topics are possibly independent of each other. The assumption that there are related topics is also only a guess.
