If you compare 2 words  ABCmXYZ AND 123M456
what do you compare and what is the process ?

For example.

ABCmXYZ 
123M456

i can compare 
A with 1
A with 2
A with 3
A with M
etc.

then
A with 2 
etc.

or i can only compare positions

A with 1
B with 2
etc..

or i can only compare 2-grams or only 3-grams
etc...
