[Other]  Corpus Voynichianum: an open library of everything Voynich
#1
Hi!

I'm new here, that's the copy of my first post in Library, but I learned later it's for the News category, hope you like it.

I compiled a database of all things Voynich that are possible to find in internet. Scientific papers, articles, books, newspapers, dissertations, blogs, sites, forums, podcasts and videos (extracted text from audio), experiments and data - everything that is open to public.

What's inside: over 2,000 scholarly papers, preprints and conference papers, about 90 of them theses and dissertations; 759 books; 2,251 newspaper and magazine pieces; 700 archival items such as letters and catalogues; over 60,000 posts from the forums and from the old Voynich mailing list (1991-2013); over 9,000 blog posts and web pages, plus 18,600 comments from Cipher Mysteries; 7,688 videos and podcasts, turned into text; 417 claimed solutions and experiments, with 1,062 pieces of code and data. It covers more than 60 languages and runs from Georg Baresch's 1639 letter to Athanasius Kircher to posts from 6 November 2026, the day before it went public.

Anything behind a paywall or still on sale is listed only with a short description and a link. Everything that can be freely found online was downloaded in full, so the whole collection can be read and checked not only by eye but also by AI agents, which can go through all of it at once and take the dull part of the research off our hands.

The purpose is to allow everyone to start new research knowing what was already done, what ideas were on different matters, what experiments explored which line. Here's the link - You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view.
github - You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view.

The work of searching the internet, deduplicating findings, primary annotations, speech to text etc was done by different AI models. Boring, repetitive job of building a database is most suited for robots.

Hope you like it and it's open source and non commercial and will always be.

Respect,
Gamba

P.S. TBH I think this is something that obviously has to exist and I hope this open database will expand and serve the whole community

How do we use it? Does this database has some GUI, some frontend where I can browse the data?

Yeah I know I could learn it myself but I admit being a bit lazy  Wink

It does exist Smile

I've been selective in what I put in it though. I've avoided a broad trawl and focussed only on reputable sources and papers though.
