As should have been clear from the part of your text that I quoted, it was meant to explain why the illustration you referred to had the snake bearer standing on top of a scorpion (apart from holding a snake). There was a point at which Scorpio and Libra were connected, in Early Greek astrology. Libra was originally referred to as the Claws, because it appeared to form the claws of the scorpion next to it. This later became the Scales, but Libra continued to be referenced that way infrequently. The illustration shows a really large set of claws proportionate to the body of the Scorpion, so it could be happening here. The manuscript itself is probably too late, but if the illustration is copied from an earlier one then possible. Edit: I'm bad at formatting, apologies. |
