You went to the line about you having done X for 13 years. Mark, please stay on topic. If you want to discuss your dislike of people talking about their credentials, take it to the Water Cooler. It doesn't belong on this thread. RE: Solved again... - -JKP- - 06-09-2020 (06-09-2020, 03:42 PM)Ruby Novacna Wrote: You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view. Please be indulgent, apparently it's written by the children. I'm not familiar with the American educational system: "high school" corresponds to what age? If this is the correct Robert Downing (he writes that he is researching the VMS), then he is clearly not a child: You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view. In America, high school is ages 16 to 18 (mostly). RE: Solved again... - -JKP- - 06-09-2020 bi3mw, thanks for the links. Even if the papers are sometimes disappointing, the links are appreciated. RE: Solved again... - Ruby Novacna - 06-09-2020 We would also like to thank Mr. Robert Downing for his guidance throughout the project, as well as the Olive Children Foundation and the ASDRP faculty and staff for giving us this opportunity to conduct research. He did not write, he "guided". RE: Solved again... - -JKP- - 06-09-2020 Ruby, I just had an awful thought... Maybe Downing was a mentor for the paper and the other names are teenagers. If that is the case, Downing should have steered them far away from Cheshire's work. They should have looked at Emma and Marco's papers or Torsten Timm's papers... something with research credibility. RE: Solved again... - -JKP- - 06-09-2020 If this was written by teenagers, then the layout and presentation is good. The logic and research needs a lot of work. And Downing should have steered them away from Cheshire. If you start with bad research, a bad foundation, it's hard to build anything solid out of it. It's like trying to sculpt wood out of ashes. "We believe all children should realise their potential to transform the world" This should have been explained at the outset rather than buried in the acknowledgments at the bottom What JKP says in his last 2 posts is correct though RE: [split] A Proposed Mapping of the Voynich Alphabet to an Indo-European Language - Anton - 06-09-2020 New article -> new thread please. Threads split. RE: [split] A Proposed Mapping of the Voynich Alphabet to an Indo-European Language - Koen G - 06-09-2020 Mark, if you keep pushing threads towards off-topic in your trademark way, we will start issuing warnings. Please only discuss the matter at hand. I think it would have been Downing's responsibility to point out the problems with Cheshire's work. He can't just say, "Go ahead." |
