If there is a text/markup only dump of the forum available with thread/post ids, I think it's nowadays not very hard or very costly to create an embeddings based search, that would find relevant posts or threads based on semantical requests (no remembering of exact keywords required).
If you have a relatively powerful GPU (for example, a M1 MacBook), the pre computation of vectors can be done locally and then the search queries can be processed on a low end Linux server. This won't automatically cover new posts, but could provide a way to go through old threads on a given topic.
If needed, maybe I can help with the pre computation part, I think I can spend some time on this in the second half of May.

We once tried to establish a wiki on the forum and it didn't work at all. People underestimate how much effort these things take. And especially, you need a certain critical mass of content before it becomes attractive.
I do see a lot of potential in a curated thread with links though. This can be in categories to make it easy to navigate.
When it comes to the technical / web hosting part of the forum, that's all David Jackson.

I think if you held one of these proposed meetings you probably wouldn't want to do another one..
Lots of people on here are pretty chill, have spent a long time with the MS and read many works by others, however some (usually fleeting visitors) are.. not these things. Personally I ain't sitting through 30mins of why Tiktok is going to get taken over by swirls caused by the manuscripts aura, or how plants represent galaxy's discovered 2 weeks ago
There has to be a bit of management of these things for a number of reasons and it takes time

works to get all the files, but ivtt subdir is behind a .htaccess, gives 403.
I'll just download the .c file but could be more userfriendly. As a developer myself I can understand Rene is not interested in providing user support, software provided "as is" etc. a zipfile would have been nice.
