I should know better than to approve this thread, but I want to see what happens next. Let's go!

And how?

How to crack the Manuscript
[attachment=16153]
Basic knowledge of languages wouldn't hurt.
Logical thinking is a must.
Being able to do math is a requirement.
A good nose—it already smells like nonsense.
Ideas on where and how to look. Example: Enigma. Signature: “Heil Hitler.”
L1: Can you do math, even in your head?
L2: Here you have to think logically.
L4: Has driven mathematicians to despair for 150 years.
I figured it out myself in 2014.

1. Understand fully the Physical Compound of the Manuscript.
2. Understand the Manuscript original fabrication process.
3. Discover the Timeline of the binding.
4. A clear find of the intention of each of the sections.
5. Stablish the number of people involved in the owning of the manuscript.
6. Make a timeline of the people who owned the manuscript.
7. Stablish the number of people who made the manuscript, scribes, painters...
8. Solve all marginalia of the voynich and use it as hints.
9. Find: the phonetic dialect or language used, the writing language for the dictata if any, similar iconography and similar works.
10. At this point, the voynichess is ready to be decoded properly if it is not a selflocked cipher(where the author could not even understand its encripting). If it is nonsense, by the references of the dialect sintaxis and the separation of writing mistakes from real words, it should be clear if it has a meaning or not.

Or we just need to find a rosetta stone for the voyniches to skip everything.

I was thinking of trying simple substitution

Level 1 is a simple substitution. 1-0.
It has only 10 possibilities and follows mathematical rules.
The alphabet, on the other hand, has 26 possibilities and follows linguistic rules. These are unique to each language.
If you can't solve Level 1, then forget everything you've ever seen about the VM.

It is all flowers and wonders when one manage to create a clever set of rules that convert some voyniches sentence into readable text, but when you start to apply it beyond that line, you start to add "new rules" like:
Well this one could be an abreviation but this other one can not be abreviated. Well, this one is latin, well this one has to be greek, well this one is actually a mistake: what the author wanted to say is this, well this one is probably nonsensical because the scriba was drunk, well this other word that... is also nonsense so... well, and... this is a new character wtf...? well, 5 times "prolongation" in a character in a single word?! why?!
At some point one just relize how wrong the solution was. There are people that make a code that works for a parragraph, claim that it solved voyniches, proced to negate reality by running away and remain silent when it does not work for other unrelated folios. Because it hurts, you need to have a strong mind to keep going. I gave up on solving it by my own, i don't even want to read what it says to be honest.

Did it never occur to you that it just might have been meaningless, a fabricated deception to mislead people into believing it to be some work of importance, but that no-one would ever be able to read ?
