I agree! I'm a very active Discord user and I'm going to lurk in the server and check their posts every now and then. But it just seems so chaotic compared to Voynich Ninja.

ArjunXY has set up the Discord server. As far as I know he is not here in the Ninja Forum.
He's on the Voynich subreddit. He asked if there was a Discord server and when he was told there wasn't, he set one up.

I see the Discord more as a promising complement than a replacement.
The classic forum structure has many advantages that you can't really replace with Discord.

Since reddit was mentioned, and there seems to be quite some Voynich-related interaction there, how does that compare to discord / Ninja / facebook group ?

Register or Login to view.Since reddit was mentioned, and there seems to be quite some Voynich-related interaction there, how does that compare to discord / Ninja / facebook group ?Reddit prioritizes new and popular content. All posts (threads) are sorted by an algorithm where they weigh recent post date and popularity (upvotes, comments, etc) by deault. This is what they call "Hot". This gives each post a very short amount of time to really be visible. While you can change the sorting to "new", popular (last year, last week, etc), no one actually does this.
There is also no good functionality for sub-forums.
Voynich.ninja does not have a comment / reply hierarchy inside a thread, while Reddit does. I would say that the Reddit system is better suited if thousands of people are replying.
Reddit as a platform also has many other problems, such as censorship, bad moderation, political bias, etc, that does not necessarily affect the Voynich subreddit.
But the biggest difference is probably this: When you reply to a thread on the Voynich.ninja, the thread is automatically moved to the top inside the subforum. This is a great indicator to see which discussions are alive. This means that a thread that was started 5 years ago has a chance to continue on. On Reddit, a post is not pushed to the top just because someone replies to it. The problem with this is that your post will always get buried within a few days, never to be found again, unless you actively search for it.
Imo, Reddit is more suited for discussing recent news, or getting an answer quickly if you have a hobby.
The infinite reply hierarchy has its advantages for these sort of discussions.

I like the actual format of Reddit but the Voynich subreddit is very quiet. About 90% of posts are "I was looking at the VMS and thinking maybe it was written by someone who was autistic/a woman/a healer/an alien. Has this been considered?" and occasionally someone hyping their breakthrough "translation." Most posts get a couple of comments. I don't think I've ever seen a discussion that would stimulate a regular Ninja poster.
Marco is one of the subreddit mods so he might be able to tell how many views the average post there gets.

Reddit only shows stats for your own posts, and only for a few days. This is not different for mods. I expect a Reddit post on r/Voynich gets maybe a few hundred views?
