Remember Google is just asked to identify single words, not to provide a miniscule translations (yet).

I check all the words again in the You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view. to see if they coincide.

It is not enough to explain one word.
As you can see, there are many possibilities for one word.
It's no use if I can't put the word in context. Preferably to an image where I can also understand and control the possible meaning.
But now I also need certainty about the meaning of the image.
In the meantime I have 1000 words in a hundred languages and the realisation that it doesn't work like that.
That is why I have stopped.
Only whole sentences in harmony with the pictures.

thanks for the example Aga, it serves well to explain.

You are right, the Latin word “vis” has hundreds of meanings depending on the context. Even an experienced translator could never be sure, because the context might be hundreds of sentences long and, first of all, you might not be sure about the language as you said.

But say you found a document in a Roman library with medical explanations that show a drawing of a testicle and the word “vis” written next to it. I think you will agree, in this context there is little doubt about the meaning?

Now, please consider all context information given in the present cases:

1) All the visual and circumstantial evidence pointing to Ottoman-Turkish (see article).

2) The You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view. that phonetic transcriptions into Latin were used in the 15th century in the region.

3) The Voynich text follows the Turkish syllable rules.

4) The other non-Latin characters were found to be used in the same region.

5) The relatively easy to understand words next to the drawings, which hold no big secrets anyway, were placed to mislead the reader that the randomly formed words in the encoded paragraphs could also be read.

6) The tokenization of 99% of the paragraph texts into 119 multi-character tokens, something you could not do in any real language.

7) Two special characters marking the first line of a paragraph (for code change), a practice not known necessary for any normal script.

Considering all this you might also agree on the translations, and consider that the precise meaning of stand alone words is not so important anymore. Yes, one dictionary says olt = fishing rod, the other = small pine tree which in the example means the same.  The 4 words oya iki sakal ak "two lace of white beard" are understood every Turk the same way.

There are only 3 single “a” in VM Eva, all errors in the transcription, once you look them up. “.a.l.” is “.al.”, “.a.r.” is “.ar.” and “.a.” is “.o.” , the other a’s not part of a token are placeholders like y a e q.
