In EVA [oeeeo?]
The second o is blotted, but I don't see what else it should be.
The final glyph should probably be EVA-s? I am not too familiar with this particular glyph. Isn't its standard bottom stroke [e]? Then this one appears different.

I should mention that mistakes were not blotted out in the Middle Ages. They used a cross-over line to highlight a word (like a modern highlighter but darker) and they used a row of dots to indicate a mistake (usually to be corrected if a future copy were made). Not always, but dots were used about 90% of the time. Little dots, underneath the mistake (not on top or over-riding it).
Blotted out words or letters were exceedingly rare. Ink spills are not so rare (and occur fairly frequently in the VMS), but blotting wasn't the usual way of doing things.

If I recall correctly, mistakes were most often scrapped, often without leaving obvious traces on the vellum.
But I wasn't seeing it as an intentional correction or blotting out of a glyph. I thought two ink puddles joined in the centre to unintentionally fill the whole space.
The size if the o's varies. Are you certain it is a different shape?

Yes, sorry, mistakes were regularly scraped, I should have mentioned that. I guess what I meant was when they made a mark to correct a mistake, it was not a blot, but rather a row of dots.
Thanks for posting the info about scraping.

Anton, thanks for the folio correction. I'm jumping in and out of the forum while I'm working on file saves (in too much of a hurry).
I'm also inclined to believe it's probably an ink spill but if it is, it creates something quite unusual. One would not expect to see the vord dootolodal.
Koen, most of the o shapes are fairly round, but there are exceptions, so it's not impossible that it's a filled "o".
It's the combination of the blot and the odd shape and the unusual vord that made me wonder about this particular blot.

I think it's two separate vords, do and otolodal
