Anton,

But you are right, the star in f67v2 is 7 pointed, my eyesight is too poor for this game.
Thanks, I don't remember looking in that thread before. Will have a read tomorrow.
The four elements interpretation is not familiar, but it may have possibilities.

I would say that the outer boundary of the blue area of f70r1 is an interesting pattern. If you are familiar with the nebuly line and the scallop-shell patterned cloud-bands, then here in this illustration there is a scallop-shell pattern on the outside and a plain, nebuly line on the inside. This type of fancy outside and plain inside construction does occur in medieval illustrations, though uncommon. If this interpretation is valid, then the cloud-based connections would imply f70r1 is air.

Some cosmic illustrations have interior spheres for elements in addition to planets, in a sequence: earth, water, air, and fire. Or will the VMs reinvent tradition?
Yes I thought about the cloudbands, but this is a pattern really different from those e.g. in Balneo section, the one on which the basilisk rests (some say it's a pangolin) and others. This one reminds me of waves of the ocean "where the billows foam".
The line segment below the VMs critter (f80v) is a VMs example of a nebuly line. A nebuly line is one in which the crests and toughs are bulbous. Heraldry stuck with simpler versions, painters used nebuly lines as the basis for complex cloud bands, but also used very simple ones.

Nebuly is etymologically derived from the Latin word 'nebula' for a 'mist' or 'cloud'. The German version is more direct. The line is 'gewolkt' and connects to 'Wolkenband', the term for earlier cloud-band investigations. There is a long thread here on the ninja files.

The use of a nebuly line in the VMs cosmos clearly shows that the artist is using the nebuly line as a cloud-band, where cloud-bands and other artistic techniques are used to indicate a sort of cosmic boundary, either between human and divine, or as in this case, as the boundary of the cosmos. Tradition provides the cosmic equation: nebuly line => cloud band => cosmic boundary.

I can see that they do look like waves. However, I can't say that I've seen any examples where ocean waves were represented like that, while tradition would offer a cloud-based interpretation.
Anton,

So what's your feeling about Q10 now? I think your original interpretation is still plausible, even if the idea does not carry over to other folios.

Yet on that point, I have been pondering deeply f85r2 and f86v4 as possible Fire and Water...where the You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view. characters reappear, I know this has been discussed before, I think they could represent the 4 seasons.

It did not change. I was enthusiastic about mapping the seven planets to f58 and did some vord stats over that folio, but did not arrive to anything useful (as often with the VMS). Specifically, I searched for vords that do occur in more than one paragraph, but later I realized that those would be just some common vords. Maybe looking for vords that do not re-occur is a more promising direction.

Rare words will quickly give clues to the content of the text. For example, the first word on page 58r "Korcholfy" which I read as "mor(s?)kab9" can mean merkabah? Can such an clue speed up your search?

I think I will make a separate thread on f58 to share my stats and discuss what may be done further.

Believe me, you will arrive faster and further on the Chariot than on the statistics.
