About the Voynich manuscript - Grimalkin - 06-08-2026

I asked myself a question about this book, and I wondered whether this had ever been considered:
What if the manuscript were some kind of binder or index, either written by a scientist of the time or by a scribe, coded in order to protect the ideas of his “master”? That could explain why some of the flowers don’t look accurate: he might have drawn them based on what he understood. And the unreadable text could come from a related object that served as a translation key ?

You’re right about that.
Most likely, VMS served a practical function, but it was not a reference book—it was more like an encyclopedia. PerhapsYou are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view.
To some extent, the plants could have been intentionally altered, possibly by adding fantastical or “unnecessary” parts (for example, adding a flower to a plant that doesn’t have one, etc.).
But the key you’re talking about definitely isn’t in the VMS. Plants tell us little about the text.
