Trip to Egypt - DONJCH - 13-01-2026 Hi Folks, long time no see. I have been out of the Voynich loop for a couple of years. Recently went to Egypt and saw a few things that I found interesting in relation to the VMS. Special subject, Stars and the Zodiac/calendar folios but also in relation to text and Rosettes. I have yet to transfer pics from my wife's IPad but first need to ask, where to post? Individual forums or should I just lump it all together? There are not masses of material. I wonder what previous work has been done on this subject! Before the trip I spent some months on a deep dive into Ancient Egypt and the ancient world in general. It seems there is nothing new under the sun. But I learned to hate AI slop and lament that it has shown its face even here! ![]() That and ancient aliens ![]() ANYway. I hope there may be some interest in this. Any guidance would be appreciated! RE: Trip to Egypt - Koen G - 14-01-2026 We're still plodding along as normal. Now with extra slopmongers. I guess you could post it in one thread and see what discussion emerges. I had an ancient Egypt phase in my early Voynich years, which I soon abandoned. But I'd love to see what you came across! RE: Trip to Egypt - Eiríkur - 17-01-2026 Speaking purely for myself, I'd be interested anything Egyptian. If some of it is not appropriate for here, drop a link in off-topic or something. If you have your own photos, I'm totally up for them. I had a relationship disaster that had me in Egypt for a month. I've crawled through some pyramids and seen some things up close. I'm a fair amateur egyptologist. I doubt there's more connection to Voynich than through a long chain to the art, but I want to hear you out. -- Wow, Wikipedia is still saying that Heiroglyphic is one of four original (not derived) writing systems.I don't think that's true and the timing vs. fertile crescent is too close--but I'm not really current on this. I have a hobby in the origins of writing and the stages that happen--not the same in each case. Voynichese, whether it was used outside MS or not, is an original invention which makes it interesting. RE: Trip to Egypt - DONJCH - 18-01-2026 Thanks, Koen! I drafted a post for the Imagery forum but unable to upload images, is the limit still 2MB as posted 10 years ago? You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view. What do you guys do these days? My pics are 3-4 MB or so. (there used to be an easy way to insert forum links too iirc) RE: Trip to Egypt - Aga Tentakulus - 19-01-2026 I drag the image into Paint and reduce its size by resizing it. RE: Trip to Egypt - ReneZ - 19-01-2026 I do the same with Irfanview. Even without downsizing, the JPG size will typically be greatly reduced. For posting in the forum, huge resolutions are usually not necessary... RE: Trip to Egypt - DONJCH - 19-01-2026 OK I downloaded a browser extension from the Firefox site (imaginatively called CompressJPEGExtension). Thank you all for your help and gtsy! I started a Thread in Imagery. RE: Trip to Egypt - Jorge_Stolfi - 19-01-2026 (18-01-2026, 11:07 PM)DONJCH Wrote: You are not allowed to view links.
