I hope this can be of use, although it isn't from the same time period as the voynich manuscript.

I see what you mean, and this phenomenon has been observed in other works as well (I remember a discussion about an Icelandic manuscript a while back). What we pick up on is the low quality of the drawings, and the way that apparently leads to similar features: rubbery limbs that bend weird, kind of silly, simplistic animal snouts...
