Voynich Presentation! - Voynich_Girl - 16-12-2025

Hello Everyone!

So just a quick overview I am set to present at the Maryland Collegiate Honors Conference (MCHC) in February 2026, and I am presenting my project titled: America's Pursuit of Elusive Knowledge: A Historiographical Overview on the Voynich Manuscript, where I am specifically focusing on some of the work done in America on the Voynich Manuscript (source list at the bottom), I was wondering if there was any way to get in contact with any of the sources I am using, I know D'Imperio, Newbold, Tucker, Sherwood, etc. have passed but I wasn't sure if there was anyone else that I could contact regarding their work. For example I know Sherwood's daughter Erica helped her and didn't know if there was an email or other form of contact for her. Additionally if anyone is interested in seeing my original Historiography paper,  proposal for MCHC, or an outline of my presentation feel free to drop a comment below!

- Sincerely,
Torre

Welcome to the forum.
It's interesting that you're interested in retro VM research.

Erica Sherwood is preserving Edith's web pages. I had a brief exchange with Edith's husband, whom I had met in 2009, after hearing about her death.
I can ask him if Erica would be willing to interact with you.

Jules Janick is of advanced age, but recently still active. He might be happy to exchange with you.
Claire Bowern is certainly very active.

Thanks for the welcome! I defiantly understand where you are coming from with with "retro", my original historiography paper (a paper on the sources regarding a specific topic) was actually quite extensive covering lots of the research done in general but my presentation defiantly focuses on the retro sources due to the fast the MCHC choose a topic specifically focusing on America. We were asked to present what we though is out post extraordinary work of honors, and I knew I wanted to use that paper I just focused on the American sources.

If you want to focus on America, you're basically bound to the pre-internet era.

I know, usually the conference's topic is much broader then it is this year: "Revolutionary Ideas: Power of People, Leadership, and Change Through out 250 Years as a Nation" the prompt goes on to mention "discovery" and the "preset of knowledge" so I was kinda suck with changing my focus to just the American sources. Trust me I would hav emu rather had more freedom because there are alot of interesting avenues to explore, but I think the VM is niche enough that no matter what I present it will keep the audience focused.

Would Ethel Voynich's notebooks be of interest to you? Marco and I transcribed them a while ago: You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view.
