In f42v, on the first letter in the text, there is something over it, a strand of hair maybe?

That is what it look like. Maybe a bit too thick and smooth for human hair; could be animal hair, from a large brush or duster, maybe?
But I can't understand (1) why it was not removed when scanning the page and (2) why only the lower 1/3 casts shadows.
