Zodiac labels - takrobat - 25-07-2025 I am creating a new thread, as my previous thread was more focused on the images in the zodiac pages. But as I noted there, I find it interesting that a lot of the labels has "o" as the first glyph. We know that this is a common prefix, but I still think it is more than usual, so I did some analysis (which probably have been done before, but....) I use the "H" transcription for this. There are 299 labels, this is because Gemini is missing 1 label: You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view. According to my script 76.9% (230) of the labels start with "o". But this varies amongst zodiac signs. Aries have 29 "o", 1 "c", while saggitarius have only 15 "o". I was wondering if this was perhaps moving with time, but I see no clear indication of that, even though it kind of drops gradually. The script I wrote output: aries : 30 lines Starting letters: c:1, o:29 taurus : 30 lines Starting letters: c:4, o:24, s:1, y:1 gemini : 29 lines Starting letters: a:1, c:1, o:26, s:1 cancer : 30 lines Starting letters: o:24, y:6 leo : 30 lines Starting letters: *:1, c:2, d:1, e:1, l:1, o:22, r:1, s:1 virgo : 30 lines Starting letters: a:1, c:2, e:2, o:21, s:1, y:3 libra : 30 lines Starting letters: a:1, c:1, o:24, y:4 scorpius : 30 lines Starting letters: a:1, c:3, d:1, k:1, o:20, s:2, y:2 sagittarius : 30 lines Starting letters: c:2, e:1, o:15, q:1, s:1, y:10 pisces : 30 lines Starting letters: c:1, d:1, o:25, s:2, y:1 ------------------------------------------------------------ Total zodiacs: 10 Total lines : 299 I have also created a graph to show it more graphically. ![]() As I said in my previous post, I am just looking at stuff. Feel free to guide me in any direction if anyone wants me to look at something specific, right now I am still where this is curious, but I have no "theory" of why this is the way it is. RE: Zodiac labels - takrobat - 25-07-2025 Some more data. I have tried looking for duplicates, both within one zodiac and between zodiacs. All kinds of reservations taken, I am just testing stuff and even though I am validating manually I am too tired to guarantee that no errors occured! ![]() Duplicate Analysis for Transcriber 'H': ============================================================ 1. For those who don't know levenshtein distance it is a count of the number of changes one will need to do to a text to create another text. It is explained here: You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view. I looked for the shortest distance, meaning i looked for the two labels being most identical. I am not sure if that is the best metric for anything, but I thought I could just as well share what I have. ![]() RE: Zodiac labels - ReneZ - 25-07-2025 Interesting figures, but it would be even better if they were not sorted alphabetically, but according to the normal order of the signs RE: Zodiac labels - takrobat - 25-07-2025 (25-07-2025, 09:19 AM)ReneZ Wrote: You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view.Interesting figures, but it would be even better if they were not sorted alphabetically, but according to the normal order of the signs I thought they were? The first list is alphabetical, but the time chart should be in the normal order of the signs? (But please correct me if I am wrong, I don't know ANY astrology ![]() The second chart is alphabetical, yes! I will fix that. RE: Zodiac labels - takrobat - 25-07-2025 Levenshtein distance matrix ordered by zodiac sign : ![]() RE: Zodiac labels - takrobat - 25-07-2025 A quick check of the word "okaly": # 00:45 : Gemini <f72r2.S1.4;H> okaly= # 07:15 : Gemini <f72r2.S1.12;H> okaly= # 09:00 : Leo <f72v3.S1.17;H> okaly= # 00:30 : Pisces <f70v2.S2.4;H> okaly= That it is 2 "okaly" in Gemini and that I can not see any other rotational properties here. Some other I have checked.. # 09:00 : Aries <f71r.S2.5;H> otal.dar= # 02:00 : Pisces <f70v2.S2.7;H> otal.dar= # 14:30 : Leo <f72v3.S1.9;H> okoly= # 10:30 : Aries <f70v1.S1.1;H> okoly= # 05:00 : Taurus <f72r1.S2.4;H> okeey.ary= # 02:00 : Gemini <f72r2.S1.6;H> okeey.ary= # 00:45 : Gemini <f72r2.S2.3;H> okam= # 11:45 : Leo <f72v3.S1.4;H> okam= I can not see any rotational properties, which I didn't expect either, but worth checking out. One interesting thing is this: While "o" prefix is used in 76% of the words, it is 100% of the duplicates. There are some discussions on some of the words, for example "okam" is by some others suggested to be "ykam" in f72v3: <f72v3.S1.4;H> okam= <f72v3.S1.4;V> ykam={Grove's #4} <f72v3.S1.4;U> ykam= But I find it interesting at least, that there are duplicates which doesn't seem to follow any obvious rules, but that the duplicates (in atleast some transcriptions) always start with "o". What it means? I have no idea! Feel free to comment with ideas etc, I can do some analysis if people want some specific data. RE: Zodiac labels - takrobat - 27-07-2025 Okay, I have been reading : You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view. I am not sure I understand this completely, but I have been trying to get a overview over all words that start with a prefix or unifix (which I understand can be anywhere). Those starting with a midfix (which is legal) is not in this matrix, and are those classified as "unmatched". I will look at those later. In this I ignore all that have "*" or "!" in them, as I am not completely sure what those mean? ![]() Sagittarius is kind of an outlier, together with Cancer - both have fewer "o" and more "y". In the Cancer case they have "ol" and "or" too, which starts with "o", but is maybe a different prefix than "o" alone? I do not know much about astrology, but do cancer and sagittarius have any properties that would make this natural? I think sagittarius covers winter solstice, and cancer summer solstice? Any other things that make them different? RE: Zodiac labels - takrobat - 27-07-2025 And suffixes, also based on the list from : You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view. (The stolfi list) Words containing !* is ignored. It will use the first word if a label contains multiple words. ![]() Virgo and pisces has more skipped lines. (That is also correct for the matrix in the previous post).
