Favorite Plant Tournament FINALS - Koen G - 13-07-2025

After a long process of sometimes difficult elimination, we have democratically determined our four favorite plants. Now, the time has come to choose a winner.

Since I want to announce the results on Voynich Manuscript Day, I decided to use a Google form this time. Like that, I can collect the answers and only reveal them on the big day. There's a line where you can provide your forum name. I will treat all answers anonymously, but providing your forum name will help to ensure voting is proceeding normally. You may also write why you voted for that particular plant, which will give me something to talk about when I announce the results Wink

Anyway, without further ado, these are the finalists. You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view.

All good!

In the end it is surprising to see that some of the most obvious candidates are not here, but that's the way it goes.

My top candidate from the start, a modest little weed, did not make it through the first round.

Here, my choice is very clear, but I won't tell yet.

I'm torn between #2 and #4.

#2 is aesthetically prettier with that spiral

But #4 has claws and a tail - what more could you want from a plant (apart from fangs)?

When you say "little weed", I can only think of You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view. , which looks like the polygonum that grows all over the pavement here.

Tough choice, these are all wonderful.

I didn't vote for #4, but I wanted to mention this 2012 redraw which could be the first remake of a Voynich illustration I saw when I found out about the manuscript (in 2014, I think)

12 votes so far, the winner is leading by 1 point. Cast your vote if you haven't yet!

I'm not very comfortable using Google Forms, is it possible to just register a vote for #2 from me?

Hmmm... I'm not sure if Google Form counted my vote (for #2), and apparently it allows me to vote more than one time...

There have been 3 votes for the same plant without any forum name or comment provided - I won't be counting those. Shall I write you down for a 2 as well?

Two (for plant #2) are probably mine. Yes, count me in for #2.
