New video about Voynich Solutions - Koen G - 06-03-2025
My new video is up on YouTube! This time I was helped by Tavi, who did a lot of the heavy lifting on the script.
I wasn't planning to do anymore "why theorists are wrong" videos, but we just felt like this one was necessary. People on YouTube kept telling me the MS was solved (it's Turkish!) or asking about the Turkish solution video they saw. I had to make an answer. So here it is:
Tavi and I wrote it in a way that applies to many VM theories, pointing out common mistakes, strategies used by solvers etc, so it can be used as a reference when a new theory makes headlines.

I saw several red flags about their theory way back, but most had nothing to do with linguistics. It was more about how they were conducting themselves. Told me everything I needed to know.

None of us speak Voynichese, so I think the forum should be shut down, as nobody here is qualified to make any theories if they don't speak Voynichese, without some ingenuity and lateral thinking.

Ever heard of Easter Island? The original population hasn't been around for a long time. That's why the language is gone.
The only things that are still there are stone heads and some written symbols. However, some things have been discovered and understood about the writing.
There is enough of this ‘ingenuity and lateral thinking’. Unfortunately.

And what we also have too many of here are smart alecks.

That is so relatable, did one of you write this? In all seriousness, I don't know whether or not to envy the people working on that. On one hand, they don't have any kind of images, clear parallels to plaintexts, or other preserved background information to provide clues for their contents. On the other hand, they can at least work with full confidence that the writing contains meaning.

One of the problems is that the Rapa Nui language changed following European contact and has extensively borrowed from Tahitian, a related Polynesian language. Another problem is that we don't know how the Rongorongo, the written language, works.

Rongorongo is a fascinating subject.
Some popular theories say that the script isn't true written language but rather some visual instruction how to perform some ceremonials, dances etc.
