Your video ideas, suggestions, requests... - Koen G - 29-04-2024
As you may have noticed, I started making videos again. I decided to call the series "Voynich talk", both because it describes the contents well, and as a nod to this (sub)forum. I have a few ideas for videos I'd like to make, but I'm also curious for your requests and ideas. These could be:
- Interviews; I stepped away from an "interviews only" structure, but of course they will still be part of the series. Getting the views of specialists who usually don't post on forums remains one of the goals. It will probably help if I make some decent videos first, so they know I'm not crazy.
- A subject you'd like to see/hear someone explain or talk about. For example, when Rene's new language classification system is on point, I'd like to talk to him again about that.
- Anyone from the forum or outside who would like to tell me about a Voynich-related or adjacent topic they are passionate about, new research they are conducting...
- Some other form, like a debate, a review...
- ...
So really anything you can think of that would make a good video.

Can we understand more about the VMS by looking at its "siblings"?

Getting someone to talk about the Rohonc Codex would certainly be extremely interesting. But the challenge there is probably to find the right persons, since I don't know the first thing about it. And working up to a point where I can have an informed conversation about it would take several months of study. Right now I wouldn't even be able to tell the difference between crackpot Rohonc theorists (I'm sure those exist there as well) and serious researchers with knowledge about the subject.

For me here are things I would be interested to hear about:
- Interview of Julian Bunn
- A talk about the physical structure of the MS, dimensions, materials, holes, inks, colors...
- Glyphs - forms, constructions, similarities, hypothesis...
- Art style analysis and descriptions

I can think of two people, I know both and both are well aware of the Voynich MS. It is just a matter of asking if one of them is willing to do it.

This is also a good idea. To make it more YouTube friendly, maybe something like "Five reasons why every solution to the Voyinch manuscript you've ever heard is wrong". This would be a list of common mistakes, and some examples of mediatized claims that make them. This subject could be prepared in a forum thread.

Not sure if these are the same two people Rene is thinking of but Levente Zoltán Király and Gábor Tokai published an article in Cryptologia in 2018 about the Rohonc Codex. The Taylor and Francis link below includes an email address for Király. Nick Pelling wrote an article on Cipher Mysteries about the codex last year and discussed their work in it.

Sort of along the same lines but modern instead of historic, You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view., the artist who created the You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view. that was published in 1981, might be interesting to interview, if you can reach him. He's 74 but is still working. I couldn't find an official website or contact info for him but he does have an official Instagram account and it may be possible to reach him through the Fondation Azzedine Alaia, where plates from the codex were exhibited in 2017. He was interviewed for an article in Domus in 2021.
