Nice references. The thing is, it's always been said that VMs artistic work is sloppy - and you can't really argue that it's not. Yet, at the same time, there is a high level of accurate detail sufficient to paint all (or nearly all) of the nymphs' faces with red lips and cheeks. I looked at this a bit further and it seems there are various artistic methods for representing faces - if they are painted in the first place. One is to paint red lips and/or cheeks like the VMs nymphs. Another method is to paint both sides of the face a pale pink, with a white swathe up and down the middle.

While any artist could decide to use red paint to enhance the appearance of their representations of the human face, many do not - or they use another method. At the same time, as your examples further illustrate, there was some sort of trend going on that shows up primarily in "Germanic" sources or that era, like Hageneau, Alsace and Strasbourg.

UBH Cod. Pal. germ. 359 Rosengarten zu Worms dated 1418.

They're starting to look like 'doll' faces.

The cosmetic use of red paint in the VMs is another independent line of 'probable' confirmation. Like VMs Sagittarius and a list of other investigations, it is also compatible with the C-14 dating. It certainly is confirmatory, but further investigations seem unlikely to be any more specific that those before. There is a combination of Germanic and French influences in the VMs. The capability of combination is one of the tricks of VMs obscurity.
