@bi3mw

About the place "Paderborn" I have heard that when a road is torn up there, it literally smells like the Middle Ages.

Quote:New insight: Paderborn's market square was anything but idyllic in the Middle Ages with a layer of stinking mud, beggars, pilgrims and a workshop.

Well, nowadays they have, among other things, the "Archbishop's Academic Library" ( Erzbischhöfliche Akademische Bibliothek ) with a nice stock of old books and manuscripts. Some of these can also be viewed online via another portal. There is also a cooperation with the stock of the University of Paderborn.

Quote:The EAB is an ecclesiastical library with about 340,000 volumes and extensive historical holdings.
