RE: Circular Text Observations - ReneZ - 28-02-2021

Last year I spent some time looking at the circular texts. When comparing different transliterations, it is necessary that their renditions of the circular texts start at the same point.

There are a total of 84 of them. Not all are full circles.
There are two (nearly) half circles around the so-called "clock" on the rosettes page. One of the two has the text in counter-clock direction, and this is the only instance of that.

One is not a circle, but a spiral (also on the rosettes page, upper right part).
There is another short circle segment, at the top of f70r1.

Many start points can be derived from a marker. In other cases there are slightly larger spaces.

Indeed, most tend to have the most logical start point between 09:00 and 11:00, but there are a few interesting exceptions, and these are mostly in the rosettes page.

For example, there are two circles that have two markers each, namely the central circle, and the one to the right of it.
In a few cases on the rosettes folio, the starting point seems to be not far from 06:00.
