You keep mentioning theories about these being planets.

I've seen a lot of theories about this folio, but I don't remember anything about it being planets. Several people think these are portolan maps. Other kinds of maps have been suggested, as well. The most common interpretation seems to be maps.


If I did see a planet theory, it wasn't emphasized enough (or supported by enough people) to stick in my brain.

I agree the most common theory by far is that it is a map and the many different maps suggested tend to be accompanied by more detail than non-map theories, though even those map theories tend to skate over a lot of the details. I know Rene discussed a planets theory and I believe there were others who went along with this idea. The only other kind of specific non-map theory that I am really aware of is connected to the 4 elements, earth, fire, air and water. Generally non-map theories often seem to me so vague as to defy description or only attempt to explain a relatively small part of the page.
