Texts in Red Ink? Or any other non-Black Ink? - ChenZheChina - 11-01-2019

I believe that this should have been discussed a lot, and many people have noticed this. But I could not find much information, so I started a thread to ask my questions.

When I was checking f67r2 , I noticed that there are some texts in red. I suddenly realized that most texts were in black. The only red texts I could remember were the symbols on You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view. and these red texts on f67r2 .

My questions are:
  1. Is there any other texts in red color?
  2. Is there any other non-black texts?
  3. What might they mean?

Zhe, have you read Vviews' blog post on the subject?

Hello Zhe,

it is no so unusual to see this, but it is a bit more unusual that it appears only once in the Voynich MS.
There are some examples of this in Pal.Lat.1417, which is older:

See e.g. fol. 5v or fol.10r

It is great to confirm that the red ink is used only one in the VMS.

The book is a great example of mixing black texts and red texts!

And, it drawings are also in black and red, and black and red only. It looks like what we call 2-color printing nowadays.
