Many thanks. RE: Abbreviation 'am'?? - Poetria - 06-03-2018 Another example of 'am'. RE: Abbreviation 'am'?? - davidjackson - 06-03-2018 Amen? RE: Abbreviation 'am'?? - MarcoP - 06-03-2018 I think it could be "animam" (accusative). In the first image, the nominative is abbreviated 'aia'. The second passage could be something like: cum neutrum dici possit non est animam dicendum angelorum componi ex materia et forma since neither [of the previous points] holds, the soul of angels must not be said to be composed of matter and shape It doesn't seem to make much sense, but what do you expect from a disquisition about the soul of angels? PS: is it possible to know the source of these images? RE: Abbreviation 'am'?? - Helmut Winkler - 07-03-2018 I would like to see the complete text and the source, but I think it's aliquem, anima seems to be aia and amen does not work RE: Abbreviation 'am'?? - Anton - 07-03-2018 maybe alium? RE: Abbreviation 'am'?? - Searcher - 07-03-2018 Thomas Aquinas? RE: Abbreviation 'am'?? - Poetria - 07-03-2018 Many thanks, guys. Well, 'aliquem' seems convincing. He repeats it often. This is the source: Commentarivs in reliqvam primam D. Thomae Aqvinatis Svmmae Theologicae a qvaestione L. Partem de angelis In Academia Vilensi Societatis Jesu sub professore Reverendissimo Patre Matthia Casimiro Sarbiewski Anno 1632 Horis matutinis My friend made scans in Vilnius and I am currently working on the transcription. We would like to publish it. Here you have some info about Sarbiewski: You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view. I have attached the scan but I can't post the whole. He wouldn't add something like that in the middle of the sentence. |
