Fun collection of images. Very interesting.

I notice Ars Memoranda has a figure emerging from a fish, but since it's a biblical setting, I assume it's Jonah (correction, brain thought "Jonah", fingers typed "Noah").

Also, to the right of it are seven stars. In this context they mean the known solar system (earth, sun, Mercury, Venus, Moon, Mars, Saturn, Jupiter) but I'm not sure if the red and blue centers mean Saturn and Jupiter or Mars and one of the others

Darren Worley has published You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view. a wonderful illustration in which personifications of the seven planets hold a tethered star (ms Yates Thompson 31  f. 70v ). In my opinion, this is the best parallel for this specific detail of the Voynich zodiac that has been found so far.

In Greek mythology, the Dioscuri (Διόσκουροι) Castor/Kastor and Polydeuces (Πολυδεύκης)/Pollux were the twin sons of Leda.
Also known as the Gemini, Latin for twins.

This image is  a star chart from the Middle Kingdom, so in itself too old. Although Egyptian art often shows a staggering amount of continuity well into Greco-Roman times. I just came across this image and it reminded me of this topic Smile

The middle person, the man, is holding a cruciform object and pointing at stars (You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view.).

Unfortunately the document Don of Tallahassee posted has disappeared.
I remember looking at it once and thinking it was a really nice collection, but I didn't save it, and now it's gone.
Does anyone have this?

Don sent me a number of files to put on the server for public use before he disappeared. I don't remember what are in these files, it's been years since I looked. Since he never revoked the permission to publish, here you go (and shout if you see anything good):

Thank you Davidjackson!
Unfortunately, it seems the Men & Women Pointing at Stars file is not included in this batch.
However, there seems to be some really interesting stuff in these, so thanks for posting them; I'll look through them this weekend.
If anyone else has this file, please post it here!

This personifications of the seven planets appear in the You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view.. Apparently, the artist forgot to paint Saturn's golden star.
