The facial expression of the top right one is brilliant!
I wonder if it comes from a real painting.

If only he was a little shorter, like the one on the left.

I find these kinds of things both fun and interesting. I tried the same for the bull.

* Raised front leg is clearly a no-go. Gemini ignores it and GPT is deeply confused.
* Hind legs with wrong bend: Gemini finds a solution by angling the bull away from us, while GPT just fixes it.
* Both refuse to go along with the tall "feeder", opting for a raised wicker basket instead. Especially Gemini feels like a whimsical scene where a bull found someone's collected herbs.
* Like in Marco's example, it's ChatGPT that tries to stay closer to the actual lines on the page. I love what it did with the horns, and it keeps the neck long (though it's thickened considerably).
* The biggest surprise for me is not in the images though. Since when is it able to "read" and reproduce the text??

Struck me too. Perhaps it considered it part of the drawing. It is not using the Eva-Hand-1 or v101 fonts.

It did not read it.  It just replaced fuzzy edges by sharp ones.  Observe that it not only reproduced the malformations, but made them worse.  Like a RetBEEEP! BEEEP! BEEEP!ould...

All the best, --stolfi

I understand this, that's why I wrote "read". But:

* I have never seen a system that was able to do this.
* Why does it replace specifically these fuzzy edges by sharp ones? ChatGPT doesn't care about them. There must have been some """"thought"'""" behind this, since Gemini """"chose"""" to respect these lines faithfully and enhance them. For me, the most likely explanation is that Gemini treats the Voynichese as a band of text.

RE: AI-generated "Voynich manuscript pages" - ReneZ - 13-01-2026

Well. the alternative explanation could be that it has been fed so many questions by would-be Voynich solvers that it gradually obtained a reasonable (artificial) understanding of the writing.

Still, I prefer my earlier guess.

This could be tested by feeding it an image with a pseudo-script.

It decided to fix the two t, replacing them with k.

It seems clear to me that it recognized the inscribed frame as such, making it 3D and rendering it in a 19th century style. I doubt it can recognize Voynichese specifically, it probably processes the glyphs as generic characters (it apparently can recognize them as "writing"). Rene's suggestion to submit a random pseudo-script sounds like an interesting experiment.

ChatGPT can also interpret theories. Here ROS - Central:
