I originally called them Mystery Pods.Yes, they are beautiful and very mystical! ![]() RE: Cary Rapaport's Voynich art with porcelain and glass - CaryR - 26-01-2021 (They still have to dry very slowly and make it through two kiln firings, so I will wait to report anything further until it is looking more complete) RE: Cary Rapaport's Voynich art with porcelain and glass - Koen G - 26-01-2021 They are very weird. Just as they should be ![]() RE: Cary Rapaport's Voynich art with porcelain and glass - -JKP- - 27-01-2021 Cary, just curious... Do you have to hollow out the backs of the figures for them to survive the firings? Or are they small enough that they can make it through? Register or Login to view.Do you have to hollow out the backs of the figures for them to survive the firings?JKP, They are partially hollow on the inside. It's best not to try to fire a solid piece of clay larger than say half an inch thick, it will have difficulty drying thoroughly and more likely to have trapped air bubbles or moisture inside (which can cause it to explode in the kiln!) So the heads, torsos and upper part of the legs are sculpted hollow. The smaller parts like the hands and feet are solid. Also, the hollow part has to have a small pinhole somewhere for air to escape during firing, otherwise once again there will be an exploding nymph situation. The pinhole goes through the navel so it is camouflaged in the design. Will it be color coated? RE: Cary Rapaport's Voynich art with porcelain and glass - CaryR - 01-03-2021 (28-02-2021, 07:36 PM)Koen G Wrote: You are not allowed to view links. RE: Cary Rapaport's Voynich art with porcelain and glass - Koen G - 16-03-2021 The attention to detail in these sculptures is impressive. Like the way you scratched in the blush, true Voynich style ![]() You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view. |
