RE: Goat milk in contemporary pharmacopaea - Anton - 07-01-2020 Can't take leave of MsMurQ 12, this is the next folio 87r: "der nem ihm trink ladken somen ader geismilch oder bren geis bonen zebulfer..." Note also the "bren", and the curious word ending in "-fer". The last word of the first line of VMS You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view. also ends in "-fer". Note also the reduplication of "der blut harn". I guess it ends the sentence, and then begins the following sentence. That's what I mulled over in the "Sequential repetitions" thread. RE: Goat milk in contemporary pharmacopaea - Anton - 07-01-2020 Next page, 87v, second paragraph reads "...oder bren geis bonen zebulver" "f" and "v" interchangeable RE: Goat milk in contemporary pharmacopaea - Anton - 07-01-2020 "Bulfer" = Swiss for "ashes" You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view. (Compare to "pulver") "bren zebulfer" must be "burn into ashes" "bonen" = "Beinen"? RE: Goat milk in contemporary pharmacopaea - Anton - 07-01-2020 f88v adds the word form "pulfer": "wie man ein gut pulfer machen..." 89r first line: "zebuluer", and line 5: "puluer" This is all by one and the same scribe. RE: Goat milk in contemporary pharmacopaea - Anton - 07-01-2020 Reading these lines, I see that "powder" is very frequent word in medical recipes/ RE: Goat milk in contemporary pharmacopaea - Aga Tentakulus - 07-01-2020 zerpulvern, zerreiben, etwas in Pulver verwandeln. verpulvert = bereits zerrieben. powder, grind, turn something into powder. powdered, already grinded RE: Goat milk in contemporary pharmacopaea - Aga Tentakulus - 08-01-2020 On the subject of "powder" Probably the most used tool in powder production. This brings me to page 1. Symbols and the other symbol ? Symbols, probably concerning the herbal and medical part of the VM RE: Goat milk in contemporary pharmacopaea - Anton - 08-01-2020 I've always thought of the last weirdo as of the cup and snake (the Hygieia's vessel), old symbol of medicine. What's the tool on your second photo? A plane? Not sure if that would relate to a herbal. ![]() RE: Goat milk in contemporary pharmacopaea - Aga Tentakulus - 08-01-2020 RE: Goat milk in contemporary pharmacopaea - Koen G - 08-01-2020 At first I also thought the bird weirdo was a plough. But some time ago I found a capital V just like it (shared somewhere on the forum). |
