Thanks... that does make sense, given that the word is written out in full in some of the other paragraphs. This has me wondering if the VMS example also says "incipit", although perhaps that's a stretch.
incipitria = inner according to a space fruit website, spacebloom.net. it was the only result for the word, and they also have outcipitria (meaning outer, of course) to go with it.
incipit ria with various punctuation does exist, but none came up with very good results in Google translate. Mary begins, Syria begins were the only ones where ria was translated.
