The verso image I uploaded to You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view. still has these in the border. This is why the originals are 30+ MB larger, I think. I may cut and paste the good recto image into the border of the full size verso and re-upload, IF the scale is absolutely identical. I've found the ruler on these images to be extremely valuable. And thanks again, Nablator, for the link to those other images. I'll be sure to save them... everyone ought to, if they have the space on their drives, lest they disappear from that source. For those who would find the ruler and color guide useful, I've pasted the found recto image into the verso image I do have, named it "1170955-600ppi_reconstructed.tif", and uploaded it to voynich.net/files I felt this was safe and appropriate to do, as the both the recto and verso images were made with the same camera, the same settings, the same lighting, the same ruler, and the same color guide. That is, my "replication" is, for all intents and purposes, a virtually exact copy of the original recto image which Yale had provided. Of course the image of the letter, being a floating selection when I pasted it, could be positioned ever so slightly differently. This will not matter, though, as the position of the letter in the black field was not originally positioned in reference to the ruler or guide, I don't think. I did leave the trimmed version in this folder, though, and that one is still named 1170955-600ppi.tif. I also explained this in the ReadMe.txt which is also in the folder with the images. Rich |
