Well, I mean a lead in the sense that these manuscripts have something in common: a similar language, but unclear origin. When it comes to the language underlying Voynichese, I don't think considering a specific dialect is very useful.

It is very difficult to determine the correct place of origin based on the text.
The β€˜ch’ as β€˜k’ suggests a proximity to Alemannic.
But it is only 20 km from St. Gallen Abbey to the Bavarian language area, and 40 km to Bavaria. Ergo, somewhere.
