RE: The Voynich a manuscript without precedent - nickpelling - 23-09-2019 In my opinion, the reception of the Rohonc Codex has been very similar to the reception of the Voynich Manuscript, in that both have been repeatedly labelled as fakes or hoaxes (right up to the present day). And yet both are obviously historical artifacts, and the texts of both (each in their own way, admittedly) are highly structured. I completely fail to see why people (often very well-informed people) feel such a compulsion to lurch towards such hoax / fake theories, rather than simply admit that (a) it's difficult to form a definitive opinion on this, (b) it's uncertain at present, and © we hope for future research breakthroughs to give us more clarity. RE: The Voynich a manuscript without precedent - ReneZ - 23-09-2019 Benedek Láng gave a nice presentation about past work on the Rohonc codex at the recent Crypto conferencec in Mons. He also addressed the 'fake' theory, showing that it isn't a particularly convincing one. |
