Yup I read that as well, but unfortunately it leaves the important question unanswered :/
I insist on this because often it appears that astronomical names are more modern than we would thing at first sight. The numbering of the Saros might as wel have been done retroactively at some point - I don't know much about this.

I agree. Obviously it was known by another name, but evidently the Antikythera mechanism did calculate Saros cycles.
