The main differences are:
Because of the short hair, the N angel of You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view. may have been intended to be male. The half-hidden right hand of the E angel of f86v6 may be holding something or just pointing down; can't tell for sure. RE: Eleven Moon Phases in Folio 86v? - Dobri - 22-09-2025 In 33 solar years, there are approximately 34 lunar years because a lunar year is about 11 days shorter than a solar year. This could possibly be related to the 34 smaller bumps in the innermost ring. Perhaps the back view of a person in the lunar folio was depicted to create a sense of depth with respect to some point outside the roundel. RE: Eleven Moon Phases in Folio 86v? - Koen G - 13-10-2025 I used that image in a presentation I did at Yale for the Voynich group last year. Trotula is depicted holding a globus cruciger, symbol of kingship, worldly power. But she shouldn't have one. The pose and context of the image suggest what kind of gold we're actually supposed to be looking at... RE: Eleven Moon Phases in Folio 86v? - Antonio García Jiménez - 23-12-2025 Except for the four human figures that may represent the four seasons, this striking image by f86v4 has a clear relationship with the Rosettes page, where we see the same circles of small bumps. In the central rosette, the bumps with dots alternate with tubes. These dots indicate that the bumps have a hole, meaning they are also tubes. The entire page is a representation of the medieval cosmos, and the central sphere corresponds to that of the fixed stars, each of which channels its influence through these tubes. In f86v4 there are only a few dotted bumps, but it's as if they were all there because they actually represent tubes. The concentric layers are the celestial spheres that reach right up to the moon, which we see in the center. You can't draw a sphere in two dimensions, so we have to imagine this image as a ball completely riddled with holes. They are tubes just like the ones we see in other cosmological diagrams from the Voynich. |
