JKP, lately I use the same names, and when I refer to both at ones I say 'botanical sections'.
Root-and-leaf is better than pharma, but still refers to a certain tradition. 'Small plants' is about as neutral as it gets.
My objections would be to the wording, again.
First of all, prior to introducing any "section" references to the VMBOK, it would be a good thing to introduce section definitions into there, to begin with.
Is it a "botanical" section or a "herbal" one? Is it "pharmaceutical" or "roots'n'leaves"? And so forth.
So actually I would suggest to suspend the poll and initiate a statement about sections - what are they and how they are commonly called. After harmonizing that, we can return to this statement and re-open the poll.
Second, in paragraph 2 it is not logical to speak of an "exception", for the pharma section is a different section than the botanical section, and paragraph 1) deals with the botanical section exclusively.
Yes, I have mentioned before that there are some problems with section names. But that seems to be a discussion in its own right, and a difficult one. There is tradition on the one hand, but a false sense of consensus on the other.
Anyway when I say 'botanical' I mean all sections with plants. Small or big, plants are botanical...
Poll closed for now until we sort out the section naming thing... somehow...
I added the tag "Suspended" to the thread name.
