I would like to add one thing but this one will be more speculative.
If you look at a whole f79v then the woman eaten by a fish and a pond with creatures are a part of a bigger composition:
![[Image: f079v_crd.jpg]](https://voynich.nu/q13/f079v_crd.jpg)
Notice that at the top we have a woman with a cross and at the bottom we have this pond.
Some possible interpretation is that we have Heaven at the top and Hell/Abbyss at the bottom.
The possibly related picture in Das Buch der Natur just shows "sea wonders" but it really looks like some scary, terrible place:
First thought: What is this poor girl doing among these monsters?
Second thought: Hey, she is one of the monsters

The scene in VM doesn't look that scary but it may be just poor skill of the artist.
And being eaten by a fish is a clear parallel to prophet Jonah. Jonah being 3 days in the belly of the fish is often compered to Jesus being 3 days in the Hell. Actually Jesus makes this comparison Himself:
Matthew 12:40
For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
So generally I find the idea of "water hell" at You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view. quite possible.
Just at the moment I don't know how to follow this lead
