My condolences.

Been there... had to do that... more than once (ugh). Hope it goes smoothly.
Well, it is a great thing to know your own limits and if you are able to judge something or not, and I don't mean anyone special, of course.

There's quite a few people expressing doubts about the idea in the comments thread of your original blog post.

Quote:But can I throw out a brief addendum in the direction of David Jackson and/or other moderators here? The reason I don't actively participate in Voynich Ninja forum discussions is precisely because of people taking cheap, sarcastic shots both at my work and at me personally. The word for it isn't "snarky" or "funny", it's *abuse*. Shame on you all.

You sure love to dish out the "abuse" to others on your own blog.  I'm surprised that you feel your own ideas should be above criticism.

Can you please substantiate even slightly why you think I "love to dish out the "abuse" to others" on my blog?

Also: I don't "feel [my] own ideas should be above criticism" (that's words from your mouth, not from mine) - but rather that there is a difference between "cheap, sarcastic shots" and genuine criticism (where doubts are OK).
OK, we've veered way off topic on this thread and I'm now locking it. If anyone disagrees, please PM me and don't start a new thread.

Lelle, I apologise for the hijacking of your thread and invite you to repost it again so that Nick can answer your question in a fresh and clean environment. Personally, I thought it was an interesting question and was looking forwards to learning more on the topic from people who know more about it than I do. Helmut, your input is as always valuable and enlightening.

Nick, I think we all know - at least I do - that you always welcome genuine discussion and are prepared to defend your ideas in a spirit of academic enquiry.

Can everyone involved in this discussion please read my You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view. which I posted this morning after a deep discussion with Anton. From now on, we will be much firmer in ensuring personal comments don't get out of hand. And not just because of this thread, we have had several separate incidents this week.
