The Voynich Ninja

These are some informal notes on how I personally think about the Voynich Manuscript.

Rather than attempting to read or interpret the text directly, I tend to focus on external and contextual factors such as structure, material aspects, page order, later additions, and signs of use or modification.

I am open to comments, but my working style is to first think things through in a self-consistent way, and then gradually adjust my views based on discussion and evidence.

I am not proposing a solution here—just sharing a way of thinking.

To summarize my current way of thinking:

My main starting point is the radiocarbon dating, which I treat as a fixed external constraint.
Any idea about production, structure, or later use has to fit within that temporal frame.

From there, I pay attention to the missing folios.
The losses do not appear to be random in position, so I find it more useful to think about what kinds of transitions or functions may have been interrupted, rather than attempting to reconstruct missing content.

Only after considering these points do I look at the writing itself.
Not in terms of meaning, but in terms of habits such as repetition, spacing, consistency, and small variations, which may reflect how the manuscript was produced and used.

These are just working notes, not a theory or a solution.



現在の考え方をまとめると、次のようになります。

私の出発点は年代測定です。これは外部条件として固定的に扱っています。
制作、構造、後年の使用に関する考えは、この時間枠の中に収まる必要があります。

次に注目するのが欠損フォリオです。
欠損は位置的にランダムではないように見えるため、
失われた内容を復元するよりも、どのような区切りや機能が断たれたのかを考える方が有益だと感じています。

これらを踏まえた上で、はじめて文字そのものに目を向けます。
意味ではなく、反復、間隔、一貫性、細かな揺れといった書き癖として捉え、
それが制作や使用の実態を反映している可能性を考えています。

これは理論や解決案ではなく、作業中のメモです。
