Do you really think that copyists were always on call for long periods of time?
Did several hands take turns, or did they leave space so that something could be added later?
These theories are not only flawed, they need a wheelchair.

I am even certain that they worked on it over a longer period of time. I consider anything else to be nonsense. It is not possible to write so many pages so quickly with a quill pen on vellum with virtually no mistakes. The concentration required for this alone can only be maintained for a few hours a day. And I assume that this was done in a community, perhaps even in a monastery. And, of course, a vellum could have been handed over to someone else because their source was more suitable at the time.
Everything here in the forum is just speculation, some more plausible than others. The few hard facts relate to material analyses, statisticsĀ and the like.
I am not ruling out a longer period of time. I am only ruling out copyists over a longer period of time.
That would reduce it to group work (e.g. family or students).
Think about it.
