It's a thought that has crossed my mind before, but I couldn't figure out why it would make sense to train scribes in a script they won't use.
Also, something about the way your post is written feels very ChatGPT. Maybe it's the numbered lists...

Im not a great writer so I used AI to edit my thoughts about this. We train designers with stock images and "lorem Ipsum" text for various non sensical text blocks.
I have written a few more posts about this and dan analysis of the vellum and other materials to get a geographical idea of where the manuscript were produced. I love the mystery and wanted to add my 2 cents.

I'm not sure how to say this, but all of your posts feel like they are copy-pasted essays from ChatGPT. I would much prefer to read your flawed yet human text. Now if I were to read your whole post, I would need to filter out your own contributions from a text wall generated by AI, including its possible hallucinations.

Noted. I am not a scholar. What I bring to the table is that perhaps it is the form of the manuscript that is important, not the content. Several different scribes seem to have worked on the manuscript. DNA on the vellum could possibly help geo locate?
That's about it.
Thank you for your responses.

Exactly VM is not a pedagogical tool.
If it was it should have be clear to everybody today.
It was created for use of a personal use of one or two people, who were wise enough to use it. Sorry!

The "model book" hypothesis is interesting. An idea ahead of its time?

But I can imagine another pedagogical scenario that might fit the form of the work even more closely -- namely, that the Voynich Manuscript was contrived as a fiendish form of punishment.
Something like the assignment of writing "I will not bring frogs into the classroom" a hundred times. But worse!
Teacher: "Here's the Nonsense Script and a set of complex but pointless rules you'll need to follow when using it. Now write a hundred lines of this stuff, and show me when you're finished so that I can check your work for statistical consistency. Oh, and they're not quite the same rules as last time: this time you'll need to... hmm, let's see... start using this new [ed] combination a lot, just to keep you from getting comfortable. And no more taking time out to draw pictures of weird plants! This isn't supposed to be enjoyable, you know. Going forward, any line with a plant part taking up space in it will not count towards your total. Got it? As before, the cost of the vellum will be added to your tuition fee, so that your money pouch will weep along with your cramped fingers and fatigued mind."
Student: "Yes, sir. I'll get to it right away, sir. Sorry about that incident with the frogs, sir. Won't happen again, sir. [Aside, to self:] Oh, so you didn't like the plants, huh? Well, you lousy old grouse, let's see what you think of some nymphs...."
